About Us
Today
We are a lively and friendly group of lacemakers who live in and around the town of Princes Risborough.
We meet at Princes Risborough Community Centre during the Summer months. Our regular evening meeting is from 7.30 - 9.30 pm. on the last Wednesday of the month.
We also meet at Risborough Scout & Guide Centre from 10 am. - 3.30 pm. usually on the second Saturday of most months These are known as Do Days when members either work on their current lace project or another handicraft which they have on the go. We have a welcome break for tea and coffee both mid-morning and mid-afternoon as well as at lunchtime. We take a packed lunch with us.

See our Diary page for information about our next few meetings.
Our History
On 22nd April 1992 Risboro' Lacemakers group held their first meeting. It was reported in 'Lace' magazine:
'For some time now lacemakers in and around Princes Risborough have talked of forming a lace group. Recently one of our number - to become our President in due course - called a small meeting. A committee was formed, plans were made, the hall booked, and on 22nd April 1992 'Risboro' Lacemakers' became a reality'.
25 members were present. The aim was the same then as it is today, 'to further enhance the craft we all enjoy'. Mrs Bobbie Long joined the meeting as the representative of the Lace Guild. Word spread and the membership grew, in April 1994 the membership was extended from 30 to 50 (it is limited by the size of the meeting room).
In those early days a special feature was arranged for each meeting, eg. a supplier, speaker, displays of other crafts, demonstrations etc These are still a feature of our group but are more likely to be seen at our annual Lace Day or monthly Do Days.
Our Lace Day
The group has given rise to a Lace Day each year.
In early Spring our Lace Day takes place at Lacey Green Village Hall. We celebrated the tenth anniversary of its inception in March 2015.
Sadly due to the pandemic we had to cancel Lace Day in 2021 but we were raring to go in 2022 and 2023 .... our Lace Day was in full swing from 10 am. 'til 4 pm
and we are expecting the same to apply on 16th March in 2024 !

Our Workshops
Periodically during the year the monthly Do Day is devoted to a particular activity, either directly related to lace or another handicraft.
The next one we hope will be a Beading Workshop led by Anne-Marie , on Saturday 13th January 2024 from 10 am. 'til 3.30pm., as usual.
